What we believe

Sixteen truths, one Saviour.

As an Assemblies of God church we hold to the 16 Fundamental Truths. Four of them — salvation, the baptism in the Holy Spirit, divine healing and the second coming of Christ — are the cardinal doctrines at the heart of our Pentecostal faith.

    The Scriptures inspired

    The Bible is inspired by God and is the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct.

  2. 02

    The one true God

    There is one true God, eternally existing and revealed as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  3. 03

    The deity of the Lord Jesus Christ

    Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God — fully God and fully man, born of a virgin, sinless, crucified, risen and exalted.

  4. 04

    The fall of man

    Humanity was created good, but by choosing to disobey God brought sin and death — physical and spiritual — into the world.

  5. 05

    The salvation of manCardinal

    Anyone can be restored to fellowship with God through repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour.

    The ordinances of the Church

    Water baptism by immersion for believers, and the Lord’s Supper in remembrance of Christ’s suffering and death.

    The baptism in the Holy SpiritCardinal

    A gift distinct from and following salvation, empowering believers for witness and service, just as in the New Testament church.

    The initial physical evidence

    The baptism in the Holy Spirit is shown first by speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance.

    Sanctification

    God declares the believer holy at salvation and continues a lifelong work of separating us from evil and making us like Christ.

  10. 10

    The Church and its mission

    The Church is the Body of Christ, made up of all who have received His redemption. Its mission is to seek and save the lost, worship God, build up believers and serve human need.

    The ministry

    A divinely called and scripturally ordained ministry — men and women — serves the Church in evangelism, worship, discipleship and compassion.

    Divine healingCardinal

    Healing of the sick is provided for in the atonement of Christ and is the privilege of every believer today.

    Isaiah 53:4–5; James 5:14–16

  13. 13

    The blessed hopeCardinal

    Christ will return for His Church. The dead in Christ will rise, and believers who are alive will be caught up to meet the Lord.

  14. 14

    The millennial reign of Christ

    Christ will return with His saints and reign on earth for a thousand years, bringing the salvation of Israel and universal peace.

  15. 15

    The final judgment

    There will be a final judgment, at which those who have rejected Christ will be judged for their sin.

  16. 16

    The new heavens and new earth

    We look forward to the new heavens and new earth, where all who have trusted Christ will live with Him forever.
